Luis Guerrero, MD

Luis Alfredo Guerrero, MD, is an attending physician with MedStar National Rehabilitation Network in Washington, DC. Dr. Guerrero specializes in sports medicine, spine medicine, musculoskeletal conditions, concussions, fluoroscopically guided interventional procedures, regenerative medicine, electrodiagnostic medicine, medical acupuncture and musculoskeletal ultrasound.


Dr. Guerrero completed medical school before doing an internship in General Surgery at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, NJ. He then completed his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Montefiore Medical Center, the University Hospital for Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, NY. He then completed a fellowship in Sports Medicine and Interventional Spine at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital.


Dr. Guerrero's experience throughout his residency training involved significant volunteer responsibilities working with Division III collegiate sports and high school athletics. While serving as a fellow, he gained additional experience serving as a team physician for George Washington University athletics and Georgetown University athletics. Also as a fellow, he gained experience with several professional athletic organizations, including the Washington Nationals, Washington Wizards, Washington Mystics and the Washington Spirit.  He currently serves as a team physician for the Washington Mystics and DC United.


Dr. Guerrero has a special interest in the use of complementary and alternative medical therapies such as acupuncture and regenerative therapies such as prolotherapy, platelet-rich-plasma and stem cells to augment healing.
