Jose Ramirez Del Toro, MD
Dr. Ramirez-Del Toro works both in private practice and in academics. He serves as the new fellowship director of the Sports and Spine Fellowship at UPMC in Pittsburgh, PA, and also works in private practice for The Orthopedic Group. He serves as the Director of Sports Medicine and Spine Care for The Orthopedic Group. He works in academics at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in the Department of PM&R. He is a Clinical Instructor within the department and is also the Assistant Director of the ACGME Accredited Sports Medicine Fellowship in the Department of PM&R at UPMC. He is also the Director of Sports Medicine at California University of Pennsylvania, an NCAA Division II school outside of Pittsburgh. Dr. Ramirez Del Toro did his undergraduate work at Princeton University where he played basketball. He then received his medical degree from East Carolina University's The Brody School of Medicine. He completed his Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, and went on to complete his Sports Medicine Fellowship at the New Jersey Sports Medicine, LLC under the guidance of Dr. Gerard Malanga. He is board certified in PM&R and holds a Certificate of Added Qualification in Sports Medicine. He is a member of the AAPMR, AMSSM and ACSM. He loves all manner of musculoskeletal care, with a special interest in maximizing non-surgical options for soft tissue injuries and arthritic joints. He lives in Pittsburgh with his wife and two daughters.
